The UK Higher Education sector is changing in response to the shifts in the capacity availability and opportunity offered by an ever-advancing range of digital technologies. The expectations of students and staff are changing continually Technology-Integrated Learning is now an integral part of the overall student taught experience of their education.

To meet its ambitions to be a place of transformative education the University supports staff in all aspects of their teaching through departments based within our Libraries and Learning Resources division in Academic Services. The Delivery Manager post sits within the Education Technologies and Learning Environments Unit.

Role Summary

Education Technology and Learning Environments (ETLE) team works in a flexible and agile way and as such this role is agile in nature meaning you will have the opportunity to work on initiatives that span ETLEs full range of activities. Whilst initially focusing on the development and delivery of key digital education initiatives the Delivery Manager will support and manage designated projects across the Education Technologies and Learning Environments Unit to support the realisation of its strategic ambitions. This will include tracking and monitoring progress against key milestones developing reporting and collaborating with a broad range of colleagues across the University and beyond.

The Delivery Manager plays a vital role in the team taking ownership of a range of initiatives spanning the units activity including learning technology platforms and VLE management digital learning design and development learning environment and physical space management and staff development and support for teaching with technology. They support the development and operationalisation of strategic projects across all aspects of the unit managing varied and exciting projects from conception through to delivery including curriculum technology rollouts and cross-university partnerships. They also support the operational delivery of the units aims working flexibly across the unit and engaging with key stakeholders including academic departments IT services and external technology partners.

Main Duties

• ResponsibleforthedeliveryofETLErelatedinitiativesspanningthefullrangeoftheunits activities working closely with key colleagues. This may include some or all of the following:
  • developingprojectplansidentifying(asappropriate)keyperformanceindicatorsandmilestones.
  • identifyingopportunitiesfordevelopingnewinitiativesgainsupportforthesecreateprojectplansand deliver.
  • developingoperationalplansforinitiativesandsupportingthedeliveryofthesewithkeycolleaguesand departments.
  • Monitoringreviewingandauditingprogressonprojectstoidentifyandactonimprovementsto effectiveness efficiency and delivery.
  • reporting on progress including the development of reporting mechanisms including KPIs writing or overseeingthecreationofreports( dashboards etc.) and presenting to appropriate meetings such as SLT Programme Board or to other key stakeholders.
  • assessingandescalatingasyoudeemappropriateissuesandrisksincludingcoordinatingthemaintenance of and monitoring risk registers.
  • StakeholdermanagementensuringeffectiveliaisonwithETLEpartnersfundersProjectBoardsSLT and cross-University colleagues as appropriate.
  • managingprojectresourcesefficientlyandeffectivelyincludingbudgetsandensureprojectdocumentation is maintained.
  • providingexecutivesupporttoseniorcommitteesworkstreamsandworkinggroupsasrequired;setting agendas collating and distributing papers and minutes and ensuring follow up action is taken.
• Lead a small team on a project matrix or line management basis as required providing a motivational environmentwherestaffarechallengeddevelopedencouragedandsupportedtoachieveoutstandingresults. This could include managing staff performance or supporting resource management across the unit as part of the management team.
• Coordinatetheorganisationofconferences/meetings/workshops/disseminationeventsrelatingtoETLE as required.
• Develop and deliver communication strategy including communications to support the delivery of the units activitieswhichmayincludedevelopingforexamplenewslettersbriefingsforstakeholdersand/orwebsitesor other social media.
• Ensurethatprioritiesarebalancedtakingactiontoachieveagreeddeliverablesagainsttimelines.
• Maintainanup-to-dateknowledgeofprojectmanagementandchangemanagementmethodologiesandapply this in the role.
• Supporttheteamwithmanagingchangeastheunitgrowsandrealisesitsambitions.
• Sourceanalyseanddevelopinsightsfromthedatatoinformevaluationandreviewofinitiatives.
• Buildanin-depthunderstandingofthecontextoftheunitandusethistoidentifyopportunitiesfor innovation.

Required Knowledge Skills Qualifications Experience

• QualifiedtoDegreelevelorequivalentpluspracticalmanagerialexperienceorsignificantrelevantexperience demonstrated through increasingly more demanding roles evidencing the experience necessary for this role.
  • Proventrackrecordofsuccessfulprojectand/orchangemanagementpreferablyhavinggoodunderstandingof a range of project management methodologies and tools such as Prince2.
  • Evidenceofliteracyandnumeracywiththeabilitytowriteclearly people-management skills with the ability to inspire and lead colleagues.
