Delivery Driver - Life Sciences

Job Summary

This is a routine role involving the efficient collection and delivery of a variety of packaged consignments and other material which may be either temperature critical or time sensitive. The role requires the use of a light goods vehicle usually over short distances but may require travel over longer distances with occasional overnight stays.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The holder of this position may perform the following tasks:

• Drive the vehicle into position for loading and unloading
• Assist with the loading and unloading to ensure goods are stowed correctly
• Check all consignment documentation and ensure it remains with the package(s) at all times verifying address accuracy and piece count
• Plan collection and delivery routes and liaise with Domestic Desk Controllers where required
• Drive safely and responsibly without endangering self or other road users
• Use communication equipment safely to maintain contact with Domestic Desk Controllers
• Arrange loading/unloading and obtain delivery receipts
• Complete daily and weekly vehicle checks and submit reports with timesheets
• Report vehicle maintenance needs and any incidents or accidents
• Carry out hand-to-hand deliveries
• Wear the correct uniform at all times and maintain it to a high standard
