Data Manager Role

The school is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Data Manager to oversee the effective management of pupil and school information.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records managing information systems preparing reports and supporting staff with data-related requirements.

The role will involve handling large amounts of information and working to important internal and statutory deadlines.

You will need to be confident using databases and spreadsheets and capable of identifying errors or inconsistencies within records.

The Data Manager will also support colleagues in using information effectively while ensuring that confidential pupil and staff information is managed appropriately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the schools pupil information systems.

  • Ensure pupil records remain accurate and up to date.

  • Enter and update pupil information promptly.

  • Coordinate the collection of assessment and progress information.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and pastoral data.

  • Produce reports for senior leaders and teaching staff.

  • Support the preparation of pupil progress reports.

  • Assist with analysis of attainment and progress information.

  • Identify inconsistencies or missing information.

  • Liaise with teachers and administrative staff to resolve data queries.

  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets and databases.

  • Create reports using Microsoft Excel.

  • Support statutory data returns where required.

  • Assist with school census administration.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation relating to data processes.

  • Support assessment and reporting cycles.

  • Provide guidance to staff regarding data procedures.

  • Assist with pupil admissions and record transfers where required.

  • Maintain secure and confidential information.

  • Follow data protection and GDPR requirements.

  • Ensure deadlines are met consistently.

  • Support senior leaders with information required for meetings.

  • Assist with the development of efficient data-management systems.

  • Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes.

  • Work closely with the wider administration team.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience in data management administration school information systems or another role involving significant responsibility for records and reporting.

You should have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable working with numerical information.

Strong Excel skills are important as the role will involve producing reports and manipulating data.

Previous experience within a school or educational setting would be highly advantageous particularly experience using pupil information systems.

The successful candidate should also be able to explain information clearly to colleagues and provide practical support when data-related issues arise.
