Job Overview
Cover Supervisors play a vital role in maintaining continuous learning across the school during short-term teacher absences. The successful applicant will deliver pre-planned work to classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 manage student behavior ensure a safe productive learning environment and record attendance accurately.
Working closely with department heads and the cover coordinator you will oversee a diverse range of subjects throughout the school day supporting student engagement without requiring active lesson planning or marking. This is a full-time ongoing or permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-set learning activities and instructions provided by absent teaching staff across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Maintain high standards of classroom behavior enforcing the schools positive behavior framework and safety policies
Collect completed student work at the end of each session and return it to the appropriate subject department
Record daily class attendance accurately on school management information systems (SIMS/Arbor)
Respond to student inquiries offer guidance on set tasks and encourage independent working habits
Fulfill general operational duties when not covering classes such as exam invigilation or break supervision

Candidate Requirements
Honors degree or equivalent higher education qualification (desirable for aspiring teachers)

Confident authoritative and warm approach to behavior management and group direction
Strong verbal communication skills adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
