The Portsmouth Academyis seeking to appoint a dedicatedCover Supervisorto join our cover team.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience before moving in to teacher training or a teaching position. You will develop skills in classroom management behaviour for learning lesson delivery and student engagement.
You will take responsibility for leading classes in the absence of a teacher ensuring students remain engaged with learning and maintaining high standards of behaviour and achievement.
Your role:
Deliver pre-prepared lessonsmaterials in the absence of the classroom teacher
Support studentswith their learning by providing guidance and clarification on tasks
Supervise individuals or small groupsof students adapting tasks where needed to meet learning objectives
Monitor and report pupil progressand behaviour to teaching staff and/or SENCO
Support the development of literacy and numeracy skillsof pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds
Assist in the planning and deliveryof classroom activities when cover duties are not required
What you will need to succeed:
Excellentliteracy and numeracyskills
Minimum requirement ofGrade 4/C or above(or equivalent) in English Mathematics and Science
Aflexible positive attitudeand strong classroom presence
Understanding of how tosupport studentswith differing levels of ability and needs
Ability to maintainhigh standards of behaviour and learningin a classroom environment
