Cost Engineer
Job Summary
Key Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Managers to develop accurate and informed project forecasts across both the financial year and full project lifecycle.
- Consolidate accruals and provide financial reporting to the Client Finance Department on behalf of Project Managers.
- Collaborate closely with Project Planners to ensure forecasts are aligned with project schedules and delivery programmes.
- Monitor and track project costs and forecasts ensuring ongoing affordability and budget compliance.
- Produce timely and accurate month-end cost reports maintaining data across relevant financial systems.
- Attend monthly supplier project meetings and undertake associated contract administration activities through CEMAR.
- Raise purchase and contract requisitions and process invoice receipts within internal procurement systems when required.
- Review and validate invoices and valuations providing guidance to Project Managers to resolve any financial queries.
- Monitor expenditure against approved changes and actively participate in Change Control and Early Warning Notice (EWN) meetings.
Qualifications :
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong ability to communicate cost financial and project performance information clearly to Project Managers stakeholders and peers.
- Demonstrable experience in cost engineering cost control forecasting and cost analysis.
- Experience working within a Project Controls environment with a clear understanding of the relationship between cost forecasting and project schedules.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent reporting presentation and data interpretation capabilities.
- Educated to Diploma level or equivalent.
- Ideally possesses 2 years experience in cost management project controls or a related discipline.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Diploma-level qualification or higher.
- Relevant professional membership (or actively working towards accreditation).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience using CEMAR for contract administration and commercial management.
- Knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts is highly desirable.
