Job Summary
Childrens Cook - 1 Month Contract with Local Authority
Summary
- The Childrens Cook is tasked with preparing and delivering nutritious balanced meals for children and staff within a care setting. This role is crucial in ensuring that meals are cooked to a high standard meet dietary requirements and are served on time. The position involves preparing a daily light lunch and a two-course evening meal.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a single-course light lunch to be served at 1:00 PM.
- Prepare and cook a two-course evening meal to be served at 5:00 PM.
- Cater for up to 20 children and adults ensuring appropriate portion sizes.
- Follow set menus and pre-planned food orders.
- Ensure all meals are nutritious balanced and suitable for children.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a cook preferably within a school care or childcare setting.
- Experience preparing meals for groups.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) essential.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week with some flexibility but meals must be prepared at specified times.
- Menus are provided and food orders are already planned.
- Enhanced DBS check with Child Barred List required.
- Location: Orchard House RH17 5HN.
- We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
