The Role
As a Construction Technician youll ensure practical teaching areas are fully prepared for lessons by organising materials maintaining equipment and supporting the smooth running of workshops. Youll work closely with lecturers to ensure students have access to safe professional learning environments that reflect current industry standards.
Your contribution will help create an engaging practical experience while ensuring resources equipment and workshop facilities remain organised compliant and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare workshops tools and materials for practical teaching sessions.
- Set up and clear down practical learning environments before and after classes.
- Maintain a clean organised and safe workshop environment.
- Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs to workshop equipment and tools.
- Monitor stock levels and arrange the ordering of materials and consumables.
- Maintain accurate stock equipment and asset records.
- Assist teaching staff during practical sessions where appropriate.
- Ensure workshop equipment and facilities meet health and safety requirements.
- Support the secure storage and management of tools equipment and materials.
- Promote excellent housekeeping standards throughout the workshops.
- Encourage a positive and professional learning environment.
- Champion safeguarding equality diversity and inclusion in everything you do.
About You
Were looking for someone with practical construction experience who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Essential
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
- Experience working within the construction or building services industry.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- A proactive reliable and flexible approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding health and safety equality and inclusion.
Desirable
- Experience maintaining workshop tools and equipment.
- Practical carpentry experience.
- Previous experience working within an educational or training environment.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of construction methods building technology and technical information.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
