Purpose of the Role

The Communications Partnerships Manager will identify recruit and manage relationships with a roster of ambassadors (or influencers) and partners who will help explain important information about online safety to social media audiences.

This is a hands-on role with full responsibility for managing Ofcoms relationships with these individuals from start to finish. This is likely to include using research tools to scope and shortlist potentialsocial media influencers and otherpartners; initiating contact with them or their representatives; conducting due diligence to ensure they are appropriate responsible spokespeople for online safety and other policy areas; negotiating terms; and working with selected influencers in partnership with other Communications colleagues on messaging and outcomes.

We are looking for someone with a strong combination of influencer marketing and relationship- management experience. Youll be immersed in digital media channels and fluent in what works on different platforms and with distinct audiences.You will have expert knowledge and experience of knowing when where and why influencers can be a pivotal part of communicating with the public and explaining that to senior internal stakeholders.Youll be bringing a wide range of people on board and youll be central to how we communicate vital information to the public about online safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Use a range of tools to identify a large number of online partners both individualinfluencerssand bodies who have the interests remit and reach to communicate online safety and other policy areas credibly to new audiences.
  • Work closely with our Insights and Evaluation Lead both in selecting potential partners and measuring the reach and impact of all influencer-led communications.
  • Be responsible for all due diligence on potential partners to ensure they are reputable uncontentious and would not pose any conflicts of interest in working with Ofcom on online safety or other policy areas.
  • Directly manage the relationship with a wide range of concurrent partners and/or their representatives from initial contact and negotiations right through to the provision of contracts in partnership with Ofcoms Procurement team.

Essential Skills knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrable experience in digital communications including a strong track record in forming and managing influencer relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of modern digital communications with the ability to make strategic recommendations about which channels and spokespeople are most effective for particular messages or audiences.
  • Executing Plans:Excellent organisational or skills with a thorough approach to delivery and enthusiasm for managing concurrent projects and ensuring that milestones are met.
  • A proven commitment to measurement and evaluation with experience of using data and insights to shape communications strategy.
  • Forming Relationships:Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness quickly to form strong trusted relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Channelling Influence:A confidence personality who is comfortable pitching an opportunity to a partner or their representative as well as negotiating terms.
  • Understanding of or familiarity with Ofcoms regulated industries (in particular online safety) would be an advantage.
