Job Summary
- Assist deaf students during classroom activities and lessons.
- Interpret and present lesson content in an accessible manner.
- Utilize British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication methods to facilitate learning.
- Clarify and discuss curriculum content to enhance student comprehension.
- Foster the development of communication language social and independent learning skills.
- Modify and prepare learning materials to suit individual student needs.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
- Encourage inclusion within the students peer group.
- Manage and maintain specialist audiological equipment effectively.
- Track and report on student progress.
- Participate in reviews assessments and educational planning.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and specialist sensory teams to ensure comprehensive support.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as needed.
- British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or equivalent.
- GCSE Grade C/Level 4 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Recent experience supporting children in an educational setting.
- Experience working with deaf children and children with SEND.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret lesson content and enhance student understanding.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capability to work effectively within a team.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Experience in a Hearing Resource Base.
- Experience supporting secondary school-age students.
- Knowledge of deaf awareness and hearing impairment support strategies.
- Experience collaborating with Teachers of the Deaf.
- 17.17 per hour (Umbrella)
- Temporary contract until 23 October 2026 initially
- Term time only
- 32.5 hours per week
- Working hours from 8:15am to 3:45pm
- Enhanced Childrens DBS required
- Bi-weekly pay

Required Skills:
Essential Requirements British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or equivalent. GCSE Grade C/Level 4 (or equivalent) in: English Mathematics Recent experience supporting children within an educational setting. Experience supporting: Deaf children Children with SEND Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret lesson content and support student understanding. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Good IT skills. Desirable Requirements Experience working within a Hearing Resource Base. Experience supporting secondary school-age students. Knowledge of deaf awareness and hearing impairment support strategies. Experience working alongside Teachers of the Deaf.
