Summary
- This is a 6-month contract role with a local authority designed to lead and manage the Committee Services Team. The position is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality efficient and customer-focused support to the Councils decision-making and scrutiny functions. The role is pivotal in promoting transparency good governance and compliance with statutory and constitutional requirements while driving continuous service improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead coordinate and manage the Committee Services Team to deliver effective governance support across the Council.
- Ensure high-quality administrative and procedural support to Council Cabinet committees panels boards and working groups.
- Take personal responsibility for supporting Council and Cabinet meetings ensuring smooth and compliant decision-making processes.
- Provide expert advice to officers and Members on the Scheme of Delegation and decision-making procedures.
- Ensure all decisions are made in accordance with legislation and the Councils Constitution.
- Plan organise and oversee the strategic delivery of committee services to meet the Councils democratic requirements.
Essential Experience Required
- Significant experience in committee services governance or democratic services.
- Experience managing or supervising teams.
- Experience supporting senior committees (e.g. Cabinet or Council meetings).
- Experience providing procedural or constitutional advice in a local government setting.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in governance public administration or a related field.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week.
- Location: 255 - 259 High Road Ilford Greater London IG1 1NN United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: 3 days in office 2 days remote.
- We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
