Commercial Disputes Lawyer (Associate)

Location: Leeds

Salary: 65000 to 85000 bonus and benefits

Experience: 2 to 5 years PQE

Our client is looking to recruit a mid-level Associate into its growing Commercial Disputes team in Leeds.

This is a strong next-step role for someone who wants high calibre disputes work real responsibility (with the right support) and clear progression as the team continues to expand nationally and internationally.

The Team Youll join a commercial disputes group with strength across the UK and internationally recognised for a commercial and innovative approach to resolving business disputes.

The team advises on complex and critical matters using a blend of formal proceedings (including court and arbitral proceedings) and alternative dispute resolution (including negotiation mediation and adjudication). Youll also work closely with non-contentious colleagues to understand the underlying transactions and help deliver sensible commercially focused outcomes.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Managing and progressing a varied caseload of commercial disputes with appropriate supervision
  • Drafting pleadings witness statements and key correspondence
  • Supporting on court and arbitral proceedings and advising on strategy and risk
  • Running and supporting ADR processes including negotiation mediation and adjudication
  • Working closely with colleagues across other practice areas and sector groups
  • Contributing to excellent client service and helping to build long-term client relationships
  • Taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement including the practical use of technology to support efficient delivery

What Were Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • 2 to 5 years PQE with relevant commercial disputes experience ideally gained in private practice
  • Strong drafting skills and a practical commercial approach
  • Confidence managing competing deadlines and taking ownership of workstreams
  • Collaborative working style and clear communication

Desirable

  • Experience of a broad range of dispute resolution processes including ADR
  • Interest in innovation and how legal technology can improve service delivery
