The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) the Acute Mental Health Unit Mental Health High Dependency Unit and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the persons needs.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) Mental Health Service specialising in the delivery of care for individuals with eating disorders across the lifespan. This role is responsible for providing recovery-oriented trauma-informed services supported by comprehensive evidence-based psychological assessment diagnosis formulation and treatment for consumers and their families.
In this position you will deliver high-quality individual psychological therapies and facilitate group programs across both inpatient and community settings. You will play an important role in shaping and strengthening the Eating Disorders Model of Care contributing your clinical expertise to ensure best practice and positive consumer outcomes.

What you will bring to the role
- Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and full registration as Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology or eligibility to progress to endorsement.
- Post-graduate experience in the provision of mental health practice including conducting mental health psychological assessments diagnosis formulation and the provision of evidence-based psychological interventions for people who are experiencing eating disorders and comorbidities at high levels of complexity and severity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disordered eating body image and related social and cultural issues associated with the development of eating disorders and demonstrated knowledge of innovative public health and community interventions to address the development and treatment of eating disorders.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising consulting on medical and/or mental health issues with health professionals e.g. GPs Nurses Allied Health involved in the management and treatment of psychological disorders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and willingness to undertake relevant training in evidence-based therapeutic models for effective treatment of eating disorders including Maudsley Family-Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for individuals or in groups.
- Demonstrated experience in and application of quality improvement principles and research.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills interpersonal verbal and written and the ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
