Job Summary

2 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To support the effective operation of the Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) by ensuring community healthcare and assistive equipment is cleaned decontaminated recycled and prepared safely for reuse. The postholder will help maintain a clean safe and organised warehouse environment ensuring equipment and materials are handled in accordance with health safety and infection control requirements while contributing to the Councils sustainability and environmental objectives.



Key Responsibilities
  • Clean decontaminate and prepare community healthcare and assistive equipment for safe reuse.
  • Process a range of equipment including mobility aids beds hoists and other community care and rehabilitation equipment.
  • Follow established cleaning decontamination and infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
  • Inspect equipment during the cleaning and processing stages and report any damage defects or items requiring further attention.
  • Maintain a clean safe and well-organised warehouse and working environment.
  • Safely handle move store and prepare equipment in accordance with relevant manual handling and health and safety procedures.
  • Segregate handle and dispose of recyclable materials and clinical waste appropriately and in line with environmental and infection control requirements.
  • Support the recycling and refurbishment process to maximise the safe reuse of equipment and reduce unnecessary waste.
  • Ensure cleaning materials equipment and work areas are maintained to the required standards.
  • Work effectively as part of the ICES team supporting the timely processing and availability of equipment for residents.
  • Report hazards incidents equipment faults and other health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow Council policies procedures risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of confidentiality professionalism and customer service when handling equipment associated with service users.
  • Contribute to the Councils sustainability objectives through effective recycling reuse and waste management practices.


Requirements
  • Previous experience in a cleaning warehouse facilities healthcare equipment or similar practical environment is desirable.
  • Understanding of the importance of hygiene cleanliness and infection prevention and control.
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning decontamination and health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely handle and move equipment using appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Good attention to detail and a responsible approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Ability to identify and report damaged equipment hazards and other issues appropriately.
  • Reliable organised and able to manage routine tasks efficiently.
  • Willingness to work in an environment involving healthcare equipment clinical waste and potentially contaminated items following all required protective measures and procedures.
