Job Summary

A Chemistry Technician is a valued and essential part of the manufacturing team offering key assistance to Chemistry Manufacturing and the production of final products. This role supports several departments across the site by applying technical skills to maintain and troubleshoot equipment uphold EH&S standards and ensure smooth compliant operations. By engaging in Lean and 6S efforts the Chemistry Technician helps improve processes organise the workplace reduce waste and deliver high-quality products safely and efficiently.

Job description

As a Chemistry Technician I at LGC you will play a pivotal role in maintaining flawless operations and contributing to our world-class research team. This is an exceptionally unique opportunity to work with innovative technology and collaborate with ambitious professionals!

  • Perform routine maintenance calibration troubleshooting and upkeep of laboratory and manufacturing equipment including HPLCs freeze driers balances pipettes and vacuum pumps.
  • Support the inventory replenishment and availability of laboratory consumables glassware process solvents and reagents to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Manufacture and package catalogue ancillary reagents in accordance with approved procedures quality standards and production schedules.
  • Deliver and support training on laboratory tools equipment and guidelines for staff across relevant departments.
  • Support the introduction and qualification of new equipment through Installation Qualification (IQ) Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities.
  • Contribute to a safe organised and efficient working environment by applying Lean and 6S principles encouraging ongoing improvement and waste minimisation.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance and support activities are completed safely efficiently and in compliance with site requirements.
  • Provide technical and operational support across multiple departments to meet business production and project objectives.
  • Write review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) work instructions and other regulated documentation.
  • Write review and update risk assessments to promote safe working procedures and adherence to EH&S requirements.
  • Maintain accurate complete and compliant records of all activities ensuring data integrity and conformance to quality standards (GDP).
  • Actively contribute to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) efforts by identifying hazards applying controls and encouraging a positive safety culture throughout the site.

  • Chemistry Degree or equivalent experience in a related scientific field with experience working within a laboratory manufacturing or regulated environment.

  • Good attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate high-quality work and maintaining robust documentation standards.
