Cell Biology Technician
Job Summary
The Company:
Our client is a specialist contract research organisation (CRO) supporting the development of advanced cell biology and imaging solutions. Working across a range of innovative research projects they provide high-quality laboratory services using cutting-edge cell culture models and microscopy techniques.
Your main duties will be:
- Perform CL1 and CL2 mammalian tissue culture to support ongoing research projects.
- Prepare and maintain cell cultures using sterile laboratory techniques.
- Support sample preparation including fixation staining and transfection for imaging applications.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records SOPs and electronic lab notebooks.
- Work closely with imaging specialists analysts and project leads to deliver project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and quality standards.
- Assist with organoid organ-on-chip and other advanced 3D cell culture models where applicable.
- Develop microscopy skills through training and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Degree in Biosciences or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience with CL1 and CL2 mammalian tissue culture is essential.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique laboratory safety and cell handling.
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proactive reliable and methodical approach to laboratory work.
- Experience with organoids organ-on-chip systems ex-vivo culture or histology would be advantageous.
- Experience with fluorescence staining live-cell workflows or microscopy is desirable although full microscopy training will be provided for candidates keen to develop these skills.
The role is fully site-based and will commence in September. The position will initially be offered on a phased basis starting with two half-days per week increasing progressively each month before transitioning to full-time from February onwards. There may be opportunities to increase hours sooner depending on project demands.
