Job Summary
About the Role
As a Therapeutic Youth Worker you will provide trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in residential care who have experienced trauma abuse and neglect. Working within a multidisciplinary team you will help create a safe stable and nurturing environment where young people can build resilience develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Build safe therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
- Provide daily care household support transport and routine activities.
- Support education appointments employment and community participation.
- Implement therapeutic care plans behaviour support strategies and safety plans.
- Respond to complex behaviours using trauma-informed and de-escalation practices.
- Administer medication and maintain accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with families Child Safety schools and allied professionals.
- Promote the safety wellbeing and cultural identity of every young person.
About You
- Experience supporting children young people or adults with complex needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including sleepovers weekends and public holidays.
- Current Blue Card NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain) National Police Check First Aid & CPR and unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
- Diploma desired or Certificate IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention Community Services Youth Work Mental Health Disability or a related field.
