We are searching for an experienced HR casework support officer to join our small team who has knowledge and recent practical experience of delivering an HR Workplace Adjustment service through the Social Model of Disability.

As a specialist working in a small team embedded in the wider HR People Advice Team the HR Workplace Adjustments Service (HR WAS) team provides a dedicated person-centred service to colleagues in a diverse range of business areas across various locations throughout Scotland. We are a small team of seven with a strong operational focus working in a fast-paced environment.

As a team we aim to support and provide advice and solutions to reduce workplace barriers which people with disabilities health conditions or other circumstances have which may impact them while at work. The focus of the team is ensuring fair and consistent treatment with a focus on wellbeing. This can vary from providing direct advice and support to colleagues; working with delivery partners and stakeholders; through to upskilling managers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • First line support and processing of all workplace adjustments for both new and existing staff. Providing guidance and advice in relation to workplace adjustments to individuals and line managers using the social model of disability. This involves arranging and holding meetings with parties to agree and make decisions/recommendations for individual requirements. This will include liaising effectively with HR People Advice colleagues policy colleagues other HR colleagues Legal professionals our Trades Unions and Occupational Health as appropriate.
  • Manage workplace adjustment casework via our HR online service tool and mailbox in relation to general queries and reasonable adjustment requests. This will include assessment of cases to ensure escalation of complex or high-risk cases to the HR Casework Officer.
  • Processing and uploading of Employee Passport and other relevant documents to colleagues HR records and other corporate systems.
  • Assist HR WAS Casework Officer with complex workplace adjustment cases. This involves assessing / providing background information/researching solutions and making recommendations on the way forward.
  • Take ownership and undertake distinct pieces of research / information gathering in respect of workplace adjustment solutions.
  • Proactively taking part in team meetings by contributing to lessons learned sessions sharing experience and proposing solutions that support a consistent people centred approach.
  • Support improvement work including contributing to and maintaining the workplace adjustments manual and desk instructions.
  • Providing financial support across the team ensuring payments are processed according to deadlines ensuring this is completed in line with SG financial governance policies and process.

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 12 months.
