Job Summary
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Berkshire is seeking a reliable practical and hands-on Caretaker to join its friendly site and operations team for an immediate start.
Job Overview Working under the direction of the School Business Manager the Caretaker will take day-to-day responsibility for site security general maintenance porterage and ensuring the school environment is safe clean and fully operational for pupils and staff. This is a full-time permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Opening and closing the school site managing daily security routines alarm settings and gate access
Performing routine minor repairs painting woodwork and general day-to-day DIY tasks around the buildings
Carrying out statutory weekly and monthly compliance checks including fire alarm tests and water temperature monitoring
Managing site porterage moving furniture setting up the main hall for assemblies and events and handling deliveries
Supervising cleaning standards managing waste disposal and keeping outdoor areas and pathways clean and safe
Reporting major maintenance issues to senior management and liaising with external contractors on-site

A proactive dependable attitude with a high awareness of health and safety in a school environment
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
