Working for: Judith Cummins MP Bradford South

Location: Constituency office Bradford South with regular travel around the constituency

Salary: In the region of (IPSA Administrative Band 1)

Contract: Permanent ideally full time (37.5 hours per week); days by negotiation but must include Fridays

Judith Cummins MP is looking for a highly motivated Campaigns and Community Outreach Officer to join her team in Bradford South. This is a constituency-based role but you will be out and about across the area regularly building relationships with community groups businesses and organisations so a full UK driving licence and access to a car are required.

What the role involves

You will help Judith map out and build relationships with the community groups businesses and organisations that matter most across Bradford South using those relationships to shape projects and campaigns she can champion locally. You will keep on top of local issues and community priorities help deliver a rolling programme of constituency activity including mailings surveys meetings and visits and manage Judiths diary in the constituency working closely with the Westminster team where needed.

You will coordinate constituency visits and events prepare briefing notes and accompany Judith on visits taking photos and recording agreed actions to help with any media follow-up. You will contribute to the constituency element of Judiths e-newsletter support local organisations with projects and events and ideally be able to help produce online graphics video content newsletters website content and printed communications. You will also develop and manage Judiths volunteer network.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups businesses and organisations across Bradford South
  • Support the delivery of a rolling plan of constituency activity including mailings surveys meetings and visits
  • Manage Judiths diary in the constituency and coordinate visits and events
  • Accompany Judith on constituency visits and support media follow-up
  • Produce online graphics video content newsletters and printed communications
  • Develop and manage Judiths volunteer network
  • Maintain accurate records in line with data protection requirements
Who were looking for
  • Experience in campaigns community organising or similar public-facing work
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Confident using office software email and digital calendars and able to judge what needs routine handling versus prioritising
  • Proactive organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and great verbal and written communication skills
  • Political sensitivity and awareness of current political issues
  • Alignment with the aims and values of the Labour Party
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car

Desirable: strong digital communication skills and familiarity with social media platforms; experience in communications politics or public affairs; knowledge of the Bradford South constituency and a genuine interest in the issues affecting the local community.
