Job Summary

The main purpose of this post is to provide a comprehensive strategic business support function to the PMO offering professional advice guidance and challenge on all aspects of strategic business support including financial management planning monitoring and reporting.

- Attend and contribute to planning meetings as part of annual business planning.
- Co-ordinate and lead regular meetings with workstream leads to monitor and track progress against plans and feed into directorate performance reports; co-ordinate and challenge responses from workstream leads and planners as required.
- Request track and approve purchase orders and ensure guidance on raising purchase orders is followed.
- Support the PMO Team to review directorate budget trackers and update the committed spend highlighting any issues and to identify solutions
- Support and challenge directorate staff on finance and procurement plans engage with specialist finance colleagues when necessary.
- Oversight of secretariat for meetings ensure meetings are arranged papers have been commissioned quality assured and issued and notes form the meeting are approved and circulated in a timely manner.
- Support and input the embedding of the risk management policy in the directorate ensure risk and issue documentation is updated.
- Support the PMO Team to gather data/information from a range of sources to support the development of performance / management information used to inform key decisions.
- Support and develop new ways of working for the Strategic Business Unit.
- Seek continuous improvement for SBU and work in partnership with other business areas.
Working pattern
This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment until 31/03/2027.
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role including Flexi-leave. Scottish Government staff in hybrid-compatible roles should aim to work in-person 40% of the time either in an office or other agreed work location.
