Job Summary

Description

Disclosure Scotland an executive agency of the Scottish Government provides criminal record checks to organisations in support of safe and inclusive recruitment practice and manages the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme. It makes decisions on behalf of Scottish Ministers on when someone should be barred from working with vulnerable groups and maintains the lists of people who are barred from working with children and protected adults.


The National Barring Service is a core part of this remit and plays a crucial role in the wider safeguarding systems in Scotland.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting twoline managers helping them to run a team of around 15 assistant caseworkers building capability confidence resilience and strong team culture.
  • Monitoring performance across your areas of responsibility ensuring KPIs quality standards and statutory requirements are met.
  • Working closely with the B3 Operations Manager and heads of service to provide accurate operational insights to support reporting and prioritisation of activity and resources across the wider Barring Service.
  • Ensuring processes are followed correctly and consistently contributing to effective safeguarding outcomes for vulnerable groups across Scotland.
  • Using management information to identify issues risks and opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Supporting continuous improvement helping refine processes and introduce better ways of working.
  • Communicating clearly with your teams and operational delivery colleagues to ensure everyone understands priorities changes and expectations.
  • Collaborating with partner teams and stakeholders representing your team and sharing key updates.
  • Promoting a positive working environment where staff feel supported valued and empowered to do their best work.
