A brilliant and well-established mixed secondary school in Reading is seeking an experienced Science Technician to join its busy science department.

The school has a strong practical focus within its science curriculum and is looking for someone organised hands-on and safety-conscious who can ensure staff have everything they need to deliver effective practical lessons.

• Preparing practical lessons and demonstrations.

• Setting up experiments and laboratory equipment.

• Preparing scientific materials and resources.

• Supporting teachers during practical activities.

• Maintaining laboratories and preparation areas.

• Cleaning and safely storing equipment.

• Monitoring stock levels and ordering resources.

• Checking equipment before practical lessons.

• Following COSHH and school health and safety procedures.

• Maintaining accurate records of equipment and resources.

• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment.

• Supporting the wider science department with practical requirements.

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician within a school is essential.

• Practical laboratory experience.

• Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety.

• Chemistry or general science experience is advantageous.

• Methodical and organised approach.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a department.

• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
