LOCATION: Salford Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 28000 - 38000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Please note this role will be mapped to our internal title of Assistant Producer.

Purpose of The Role

Join the BBCs Factual YouTube team responsible for our YouTube output for under-25 audiences.

In this role youll use platform data audience insights and performance analysis to help the team understand how content is performing and identify opportunities to grow and engage audiences.

Reporting to the Factual Editor and working closely with the Channel Lead youll combine a deep understanding of YouTube analytics and audience behaviour with a strong editorial awareness to inform content strategy publishing decisions and channel development.

Youll support the optimisation of YouTube content and assets with a particular focus on platform packaging helping ensure our output performs effectively and connects with target audiences.

Youll also translate performance insights into clear reports and recommendations sharing key learnings with stakeholders to help shape future editorial and commissioning decisions.

Key Accountabilities and Impact

  • Analyse audience behaviour retention watch time click-through rate returning viewers and other key channel metrics.
  • Translate performance data into clear actionable recommendations that support editorial decision making and content development.
  • Produce regular YouTube performance reports and audience insight updates for editorial teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with editorial and production colleagues to optimise content strategy publishing approaches and channel growth initiatives.
  • Support the development and optimisation of titles thumbnails Shorts and other YouTube-facing assets.
  • Monitor audience response across our channels identifying what is and is not working and helping teams adapt accordingly.
  • Share platform expertise and best practice helping ensure content is designed with audience needs and YouTube performance in mind.
  • Help ensure output complies with BBC editorial guidelines legal requirements and compliance standards.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of YouTube analytics and audience behaviour including click-through rate audience retention watch time returning viewers and subscriber growth.
  • Experience using audience insight and performance data to inform content publishing or channel development decisions.
  • Experience working in a digital content environment whether for a creator publisher or broadcaster.
  • Ability to analyse data identify trends and turn findings into practical recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insight clearly to colleagues from different teams and disciplines.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience creating or adapting content for YouTube audiences.
  • Experience optimising titles thumbnails and other audience-facing assets.
  • Knowledge of content aimed at under 25 audiences.

Desirable

  • Editing and asset creation experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop.
