Salary: up to 102500 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: 12 month FTC Full-Time

This role will be mapped internally as Head of On-Demand Service.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC iPlayer is seeking an outstanding Head of Operations who will lead on the developmentand management ofspecificContent and Business operationsinitiativesfor iPlayer.

Reporting to the General Manager BBC iPlayertherole spans managing editorial processes systems and operations planning and delivering major content and business programmes as well as specifying the tools needed for teams to optimise productivity.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Lead new operational initiativesrequiredto supportcritical strategic projects spanning adaptation of workflowsprocessesand tools tosupportnew contenttypesreview of tooling to support neweditorialand designneedsandidentifyingnew workflows and processes to support newservicefeatures andfunctions.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams across the organisation
  • Direct management of the iPlayerImageDesign future graphic and image needs andensure the team are equipped to evolveand deliver.
  • Work closely with the GM and Business Ops Lead to ensure an optimised operating model and governance process is developed and implemented for iPlayer
  • Define new business process for out of hours technical troubleshooting and continue to oversee it once implemented
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Whilst being a passionate advocateof our valuesand having exceptionalknowledge of our audiences theirneedsand expectationsthe successful candidate will have:

  • A solid understanding of content operations within a media organisation preferably along with a good understanding of the various business areas and their functions within a streaming business
  • A strong background in defining operational processes to support effective and efficient business practise
  • Have strong credentials in problem solving with the ability to harness complex information and define new processes to support business needs
  • Successfultrack recordin working collaboratively across a complex organisation with the ability to drive decision-making
  • Experience working with technicalcreativeand business teams
  • Ability to quicklyidentifykey information and diagnose problems without getting bogged down in detail
  • Ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders in a clear concise way
  • A positive can-do leadership style with strong influencing skills
