Baby Room Leader
Job Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable Good Ofsted-rated nursery based in Sydenham South East London. The nursery offers a warm stimulating environment equipped with dedicated baby facilities on-site parking and convenient access to local rail and bus networks. They are seeking a nurturing and qualified Room Leader to guide their baby room team.
Role Overview:
In this role you will hold overall responsibility for the care wellbeing and early education of babies aged 6 months to 2 years. You will serve as an exemplary role model for staff establish secure attachments with infants and maintain open communication with parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily care routine and early learning experiences for infants aged 6 months to 2 years.
Act as a key person: conducting regular observations planning sensory-rich activities assessing progress and keeping accurate developmental records under the EYFS.
Serve as an inspiring role model for room practitioners and assistants championing best early years practice.
Liaise daily with parents carers and management to provide transparent updates on infant routines and developmental milestones.
Lead room meetings contribute actively to wider staff meetings and ensure collaborative teamwork.
Uphold the highest standards of safety hygiene sleep monitoring safeguarding and room risk management.
Requirements:
Full and relevant Early Years qualification at NVQ Level 3 (Level 2 practitioners with significant baby room leadership experience may be considered).
Strong working knowledge and practical implementation of the EYFS for under-twos.
Previous experience caring for babies in an early years setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise confidently with parents and management.
Strong organizational routine management and time-management capabilities.
Enhanced DBS clearance.
Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding certifications are highly desirable.

Required Education:
You must hold a Full & Relevant Early Years or Childcare qualification (e.g. NVQ CACHE Level 3 Early Years Educator NNEB). Please note: Due to government ratio regulations Health & Social Care or Teaching Assistant (TA) qualifications do not meet the criteria for Qualified Practitioner rates. Compliance (The 2025 Standard): To be counted in nursery ratios you must hold a Full Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate. If you dont have one right you need to get one within 6 months.
