Job Summary
An innovative secondary school in Reading is seeking a tech-savvy Audio-Visual (AV) & IT Media Technician to oversee classroom presentation hardware hall staging systems and media production suites for an immediate (ASAP) start.
Role Purpose
As AV & Media Technician you will provide specialist technical setup maintenance and live support for audio-visual technology across the campus. You will oversee hall sound and lighting systems for assemblies school productions and community events while supporting ICT/Media departments with hardware and editing software management.
Core Responsibilities
Set up operate and troubleshoot audio systems stage lighting rigs digital projectors and livestreaming equipment for assemblies theatre productions and school events
Maintain test and repair classroom interactive whiteboards touchscreens document cameras and audio systems
Manage inventory and log portable AV equipment (cameras microphones lighting kits tripods) available for staff and pupil loan
Support Media Studies and Film departments with digital editing suites (Mac/PC hardware Adobe Creative Cloud software)
Perform routine preventive maintenance and portable appliance testing (PAT) on AV equipment
Liaise with external technical contractors for specialist theatre or network infrastructure repairs
Offer & Working Conditions
Salary:pro-rata (Term-Time Only or 52-week contract negotiable)
Contract: Full-time long-term or permanent post starting ASAP
Environment: Modern performance hall digital media suites and dedicated technical workshop
Location: Central Reading location with direct road and rail connections
Candidate Profile
Relevant technical qualification (NVQ BTEC or HND) in Audio-Visual Technology Media Production Sound Engineering or IT
Hands-on experience operating PA systems digital mixing consoles DMX lighting boards and AV projection
Familiarity with video production hardware and media software (Adobe Premiere Pro Final Cut Logic Pro)
Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm adaptable demeanor during live school events
Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
