Job Summary

We are working with a specialist sen setting in Edgware Barnet looking for an Autism Support Assistant to support pupils with autism and communication needs. This role is for someone who understands autism support beyond just having it written on a CV. This is a long-term role starting in September 2026 with strong potential to continue across the academic year. The school needs someone patient structured and able to support pupils who may need visual routines sensory support and calm communication. What the role involves: - Supporting pupils with ASD and communication needs - Helping pupils follow routines and access learning - Using calm consistent support strategies - Working alongside experienced SEN staff and teachers What they are looking for: - Experience with autism support SEN care youth work or school support - Patience and emotional consistency - Someone who understands routine communication and regulation - A reliable person who can build trust over time Pay: 95 - 115 per day Location: Edgware Barnet (NW11 7RN) Start date: September 2026 Apply now if you are securing a long-term September role.

Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH)Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
