Our client is a well-established and growing independent accountancy and business advisory firm operating across Central Scotland. The firm supports a broad range of clients including owner-managed businesses SMEs larger organisations charities and private individuals providing services across audit accountancy business advisory insolvency and wealth management.

The Opportunity

We are supporting our client in the appointment of an Audit Assistant Manager to join their expanding audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified audit professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will manage a varied client portfolio lead audit assignments and support the development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients across multiple sectors including technology healthcare construction manufacturing and charitable organisations.
  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Assist in planning coordinating and managing audit engagements.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and develop an understanding of their businesses and operating environments.
  • Identify control weaknesses and contribute to recommendations for process improvements.
  • Support and mentor junior staff assisting with their ongoing professional development.
  • Prepare and review audit completion reports.
  • Ensure assignments are completed within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and assist with corporation tax computations where required.

Candidate Profile

  • ACCA ICAS or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years audit experience within an accountancy practice environment.
  • At least one year of experience operating at a supervisory level.
  • Previous people management or team leadership experience.
  • Strong technical audit and accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
