Attendance Officer Role in a Successful Primary School

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and improving pupil attendance working closely with the Headteacher senior leaders class teachers parents and external agencies to ensure attendance remains a key priority across the school.

You will maintain accurate attendance records identify attendance trends communicate with families regarding absences and support intervention strategies that help remove barriers to regular school attendance. The role requires excellent organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with parents and carers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school

  • Maintain accurate attendance records using the schools management information system

  • Contact parents and carers regarding pupil absences

  • Identify attendance concerns and support intervention strategies

  • Produce attendance reports for senior leaders and external agencies

  • Work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams

  • Organise attendance meetings and maintain appropriate documentation

  • Promote a culture of excellent attendance throughout the school community

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in an attendance administration or pastoral support role

  • Professional proactive and able to build positive relationships with families

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting

  • Knowledge of SIMS Arbor Bromcom or similar management information systems

  • Understanding of attendance legislation safeguarding and child protection

  • Experience working alongside external agencies to improve attendance
