Attendance Officer Role in an Inclusive Secondary School

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school. Working closely with senior leaders pastoral teams families and external agencies you will monitor attendance patterns identify concerns and support strategies designed to improve student engagement.

You will maintain accurate attendance records communicate with parents and carers support attendance interventions and ensure the schools attendance procedures are followed effectively.

This role would suit an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a meaningful difference to student outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality records

  • Follow up student absences and communicate with parents and carers

  • Identify attendance concerns and support intervention plans

  • Maintain accurate records using school management systems

  • Prepare attendance reports for senior leaders

  • Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams

  • Support attendance meetings and parental engagement activities

  • Promote a positive culture of regular attendance across the school

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in an attendance administration pastoral or support role

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information

  • Confidence communicating with parents carers and external professionals

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational environment

  • Knowledge of school attendance procedures and safeguarding processes

  • Experience using SIMS Arbor Bromcom or similar systems

  • Understanding of strategies to support student engagement
