Role Brief:

We are looking for experienced accreditedSpLDAssessors to join our growing network of associate this role you will deliver high-quality clinically robustSpLDassessments for university students working within a service governed by theSpLDAssessment Standards Committee (SASC) and in line with your own accrediting body standards.

Working on a flexible self-employed sessional basis you will contribute to a service committed to transforming access toSpLDassessment across the UKs higher education sector.

Assessment Types

Associatesare not required tobe trained and accredited across all assessment types. At the point of application candidates should confirm which of the following they are qualified and accredited to deliver. This information will be used to match you to appropriate referrals.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality clinically robustSpLDassessments for university students across your confirmed assessment types in line with SASC standards and your own accrediting body requirements.
  • Review pre-assessment background questionnaires and information sharing agreements prior to each assessment dayidentifyingany factors requiring consideration beforecommencing.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments using the approved test battery for each assessment type applying appropriate standardised toolsand structured clinical interviews.
  • Apply professional judgement in synthesising quantitative test data and qualitative clinicalevidence and activelyconsider and document alternative explanations for the students difficulties.
  • Provide verbal feedback to students at the end of each assessment session communicating the outcome clearly in plain language.
  • Complete high-quality assessment reports within agreedtimeframes using the current SASC approved report format and in line with your professional body standards.
  • Upload completed reports and raw assessment data todesignated systems within agreed deadlines.
  • Manage risk and safeguarding concerns in line withassociate guidance including contacting emergency services where necessary and notifying promptly by email.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with your professional body standards and UK GDPR requirements.
  • Maintain your own professional registration accreditation insurance and DBS certificate throughout the duration of your contract.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification inSpLDassessmentat Level 7 or equivalent
  • Current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC)or equivalent accreditation recognised by PATOSS the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) or the Dyslexia Guild
  • Minimum 3 years experience delivering specialist SpLD diagnosticassessments for adults and / or young people in higher education
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and experience working within SASC guidance and standards
  • Understanding of the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)and current JCQ regulations
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service(or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Ability to work independently as a self-employed practitioner managing your own caseload and administration
  • Confident and competent working in an online and digital format all assessments are delivered remotely via MS Teams
  • Excellent written communication skills able to present complex clinical information clearly and accessibly in assessment reports

Desirable:

  • Accreditation and experience across more than one of the four assessment types offered by the service (Dyslexia ADHD Traits Dyspraxia Traits Dyscalculia)
  • Experience working within a university-based or DSA-fundedSpLDassessment service
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team (MDT) working and case discussion
  • Knowledge of co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions and their interaction withSpLDpresentations
  • Experience adapting assessments for individuals with complex profiles including co-occurring conditions oradditionallearning needs

Your profile

Please note: As this is a self-employed associate role the successful candidate is responsible for maintaining their own accreditation relevant professional body membership enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service and professional indemnity and public liability insurance throughout the duration of their contract with . Evidence of all of the above will be required prior to commencement and will be subject to annual verification.
