About the Role

The Associate Publishing Manager will coordinate and support the development of the NatureMasterclassesonline training products including onlinecourses andwebinars and short-form content tailored for researchers around the world.

Role Responsibilities:

ContentProduction

  • Support the Publishing Manager to develop proposals fornew contentand formats

  • Coordinate the commissioning and recruitment of internal (Springer Nature) and externalexpertsreviewers and freelancers

  • Lead the production of video content (including coordinating filming quality control etc.)

  • Manage the workflow for copy-editing andproofreadingcontent; follow best practice for QA review and support work on clearing rights and permissions

  • Work with learning design contentengagementand marketing to upload update andorganisecontent on content and learning management systems

  • Accurately track and record content development-related costs

  • Lead on the production and running of webinars (including commissioning of experts preparing presentations collating questions communication with participants and technical setup publication).

Project Management

  • Support the Publishing Manager tomanage projects fortrainingcontent creationsuch aswebinardevelopmentand publication

  • Create comprehensive schedules and timelines with key project dates/milestones for on-going non-contentrelated projects

  • Support the Publishing Manager in meeting project deadlines by documenting progress prioritising tasks mitigating risks and keeping stakeholders informed

  • Lead internal team meetings and take comprehensive notes

  • Ensure that the wider publishing team are kept on track to meet ambitious team goals

People

  • Work closely with the Publishing Manager

  • Build relationships with key colleagues in learning design content engagementmarketingand salesas well as freelancersto ensuretimelyandhigh-qualitydelivery of content and communication with users

  • Support the development and implementation of diversity equity &inclusionand accessibility measures for the publishing teams contribution to the training team portfolio

Quality &CustomerSatisfaction

  • Support the wider publishing team in ensuring thathigh qualitystandards aremaintainedwithin course content

  • Support the wider publishing team in ensuring that the training ishigh qualityengaging and continues to meet the diverse and changing needs of todays researchers and customers

  • Where requestedmonitorand report on established KPIs

Product strategy

  • Support thePublishing Manager to create the strategy on the development of training services andnew contentby gathering and analysing market intelligence and competitor data

  • AssistthePublishing Manager with the piloting and implementation of new products and innovations including those which blend live and on-demand training

  • Support in delivering tactical implementation plans to drive forward the goals of the wider researcher training team

Sales &Marketing

  • Collaborate with the marketing and content engagement teams to plan and deliver marketing campaigns fornew content

  • Where requested work with marketing team to create promotional product collateral

  • As needed work with the sales team todevelop materials to support client conversations

Experience Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience workingor studyingwithina research environment

  • An understanding of the needs of scientists and other researchers

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • A passion for editorial excellence and superb attention to detail

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Graduate degree in the sciences

Desirable

  • Experience in project management and delivery of results within agreed deadlines

  • Experience commissioning subject matter experts and managing freelancers (e.g. proofreaders videographers expert reviewers etc.)

  • Experience working within scientific research scientific/educational/academic publishing sciencecommunicationand/or educational/training product development

  • Some prior experience in publishing and product development

  • Numeracy and comfort creating and working with usage data analyses

  • Ability towork confidently incontent and learning management systems

  • Strong stake-holder management skills
