About the Role:

The Assistant Publisher is responsible for the maintenance and development of a list of journals across a related subject area. This role involves evaluating the performance of the program in relation to company and department objectives managing editor performance and maintaining relationships with scientific editors and board members..

Job Responsibilities

Content Growth: Meet objectives regarding content growth including submissions acceptances and published articles.


Editor Management: Maintain a network of scientific editors and board members engage with them regularly to build awareness and gather feedback and manage day-to-day journal and editor performance through regular meetings.


Contractual Relationships: Negotiate and manage contractual relationships with journal editors set performance targets and rotate editors as directed by senior team members. Participate in interviews and make recommendations on the appointment of editors.


Reporting: Organize maintain and report on activities to the Associate Director and Senior Director in a timely manner.


Collaboration: Contribute to the delivery of external reporting end-to-end publishing services and title-level business growth through collaboration with internal colleagues across multiple publishing units.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Conceptual knowledge of trends in research and research publishing
  • Problem-solving skills using existing processes to solve routine problems and maximize potential in own program
  • Communication skills to present changes required to align own titles with strategic priorities
  • Open to receiving instruction guidance and overall direction from manager
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations with impact
  • Learning mindset

The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles in the United Kingdom Canada USA Austria Czechia Denmark France Greece Italy Netherlands Romania or Spain. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
