Job Summary
6 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
The Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of transport infrastructure and highways projects across the Councils Project Delivery team. The role involves assisting with project planning programme management procurement stakeholder engagement financial monitoring and project delivery to ensure schemes are completed efficiently safely and in line with Council objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of transport infrastructure and highway improvement projects across the Councils Project Delivery programme.
- Assist with project planning programme management procurement and delivery activities.
- Prepare technical reports project documentation progress updates and stakeholder communications.
- Support Project Managers in managing project timelines budgets risks and quality standards.
- Assist with monitoring project expenditure forecasting costs and reporting variances.
- Help implement project controls risk management processes and change management procedures.
- Support procurement and contract management activities including NEC contract environments and tendering processes.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including Councillors local authorities contractors consultants community groups and government agencies.
- Ensure projects consider environmental impact community needs accessibility and customer focus.
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation and Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support collaborative team working.
- Assist in developing positive relationships with partners stakeholders and service providers to achieve successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Previous experience within project management civil engineering infrastructure or a related discipline.
- HNC degree or relevant qualification in Project Management Civil Engineering or a related field or working towards a professional qualification.
- Understanding of project and programme management principles.
- Knowledge of budgeting risk management procurement and contract management processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience working with contractors consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Proficient IT skills including project management software such as MS Project or ASTA.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexible approach to working hours and attendance at stakeholder meetings when required.
- Local Government experience is desirable but not essential.

- Hours per Week: 37 Hours
