We are looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to be Assistant EHC Caseworkers and join our growing play a vital role in ensuring children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities receive the right support at the right time in line with statutory duties and best practice.

About the service

The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Service (0-25) sits within the Inclusion Service within the Children and Young Peoples Service (CYPS) directorate.

The SEND service improves experiences for children and young people with SEND and their families including pathways and key points for assessment and decision making supporting young people to achieve the national Preparing for Adulthood outcomes. The service demonstrates acommitment to shared values and the common purpose of developing a culture of interagency working; including statutory bodies third and private sector organisations

About the role

The Directorate has established an Integrated SEND Service (0-25) to provide an improved experience for children and young people with SEND and their families including pathways and key points for assessment and decision making.

The role will be to maintain a caseload of identified young people and provide professional effective and supportive service to parents of children who are undergoing assessments and implement statutory duties.

The Assistant caseworker will also have an understanding ofChildren and Families Act (2014) and experience of the procedures relating to the statutory review of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disability as specified in the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice (2015).

You will update education health and care plans following reviews as well as organise attend and contribute to meetings as well as discuss specific issues associated with the needs and provisions of individual pupils.

You will have:

  • A working understanding of educational SEND and Inclusion legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a professional effective and responsive manner.
  • Excellentorganisational skills to enable you to carry out the role to a high standard.
