Basic Function:

Develop community provide education and respond directly to students and staff within a designated community. Ensure programs services and responses align with the mission and priorities of Kent State University the Division of Student Life and University Housing. Reports to Associate Director Residence Life or designed supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following:

Provide leadership formal supervision and training for assigned staff including but not limited to residence hall directors graduate assistants and student staff within residential areas.

Assist with business processes operations and financial oversight for assigned areas.

Develop and foster communities within a designated area of campus.

Assist Residence Hall Directors in responding and/or coordinating responses to student behavior crisis and community issues; directly respond to issues when needed/appropriate.

Develop coordinate and assist with evaluation of programmatic efforts academic initiatives student engagement initiatives conduct and CARE needs conferences and summer programs for assigned areas.

Serve as liaison with offices including Office of Student Conduct Kent State University Police Services and other key offices.

Provide guidance in behavioral response and student crisis management including participation in the departments on-call rotation.

Coordinate projects and serve on department division and university committees as assigned.

Evaluate and assess processes to ensure best practice and continuous improvement.

Assist with student recruitment and admissions events.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Employee hired for Engagement and Leadership may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist in coordinating programs and initiatives that support student engagement and belonging
  • Plan and implement leadership opportunities for residential students student leaders and student employees
  • Provide leadership and guidance for key programs and events

Employee hired for Recruitment and Selection may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Oversee recruitment and selection processes for Resident Assistants (RAs) and Assistant Residence Hall Directors (ARHDs)
  • Coordinate marketing and outreach strategies to promote student leadership opportunities
  • Organize the interviewing and selection of new hires

Employee hired for Student Staff Development may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Design coordinate and assess fall and spring student staff training
  • Develop and implement ongoing developmental experiences to enhance staff competency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate new student staff orientation and spring kickoff training events.

Employee hired for Professional Staff Development may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Plan implement and assess onboarding and orientation programs for professional staff and graduate assistant staff
  • Develop and facilitate ongoing professional development workshops and learning sessions
  • Create initiatives related to staff team development and recognition

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in relevant field.
Four years of experience in student housing or related field.
Must possess three years of supervisory experience.
Must be able to work nontraditional hours as needed including evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

Preferred Qualifications if applicable:

Professional experience as a residence hall coordinating with student conduct office mediation and/or counseling services.

Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM or otherwise discussed with your supervisor.
