Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment

Working Type: Part Time (30 hours 39 working weeks) - Paid weeks 45.942

Working hours: Monday - Friday 8.15 - 14.15

Northern Education Trust The Blyth Academy are looking to appoint a dedicated and skilled Assistant Cook to join our academy team. Supporting the Chef Manager you will play a key role in the preparation cooking and serving of fresh meals for breakfast break time lunch and special hospitality events. You will work as part of a supportive catering team ensuring food is prepared according to daily menus government dietary guidelines and the high standards of the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook meals across breakfast break lunch and hospitality services with support from the general catering team.

  • Counter Service & Presentation: Ensure food presentation meets Academy standards and serve meals following high customer service standards.

  • Deputising: Step up to deputise in the Chef Managers absence ensuring staff are clear on their duties and the kitchen continues to run smoothly.

  • Stock & Hygiene Management: Assist with stock control stock rotation and maintaining accurate records for fridge freezer and food temperatures in line with Food Hygiene Regulations.

  • Kitchen Safety: Comply with all Health & Safety and GDPR guidelines to maintain a safe clean and compliant working environment.
