Role Overview

An inclusive and supportive primary school in Southall is seeking a dedicated and patient ASD Teaching Assistant to join its specialist inclusion team. This full-time term-time-only role involves providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

The role is ideal for an experienced SEN support worker or a graduate looking to build a career in special educational needs educational psychology or speech and language therapy. Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO you will help break down barriers to learning foster communication skills and support emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Targeted 1:1 Support: Implement adapted learning activities and visual timetables tailored to each childs individual Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • Communication Support: Utilize communication tools such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and visual aids to enhance interaction social understanding and independence.

  • Sensory & Emotional Regulation: Recognize early triggers assist with sensory processing needs and implement de-escalation and calm-down strategies to support emotional well-being.

  • Classroom Integration: Assist pupils in navigating transitions between tasks and settings helping them participate safely and comfortably in main-school activities.

  • Qualifications & Skills: Prior experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder strong patience and empathy GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths and a clear Enhanced DBS check.
