A well-established Secondary School in Swindon is seeking a creative organised and enthusiastic Art Technician to join its successful Creative Arts department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for the arts who enjoys supporting practical learning and helping students develop their creativity in a well-equipped and inspiring environment.

Working closely with the Head of Art and teaching staff you will play an important role in preparing resources maintaining specialist equipment and ensuring lessons run smoothly. The successful candidate will help create an organised safe and engaging environment where students can experiment confidently with a wide range of artistic techniques and materials.

Art Department

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials and equipment for practical Art lessons.

  • Maintaining Art studios and preparation areas.

  • Ordering and monitoring departmental stock.

  • Preparing specialist equipment for demonstrations.

  • Supporting teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.

  • Mounting and displaying students artwork around the school.

  • Assisting with GCSE and A-Level coursework preparation.

  • Supporting exhibitions and open evenings.

  • Maintaining departmental inventories.

  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.

  • Cleaning specialist equipment and workspaces.

  • Supporting extracurricular Art clubs and enrichment activities.

  • Preparing clay paints and printing materials.

  • Organising storage areas efficiently.

  • Assisting with departmental administration when required.

Requirements
  • Previous experience within an Art department or creative environment is desirable.

  • Good practical artistic skills.

  • Excellent organisational abilities.
