We are seeking an inspirational and forward-thinking leader to join our Service as Area Manager Strategy Risk Policy and Assurance. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our organisation shaping our long-term direction strengthening governance and ensuring we deliver safe efficient and effective services to our communities.
Reporting at a senior level to ACFO Risk Reform and Enabling Services you will lead the development and delivery of our strategic planning risk management policy framework and assurance arrangements. You will play a critical role in supporting organisational transformation driving continuous improvement and ensuring we meet our statutory obligations and inspection requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of the Services strategic planning framework aligning priorities with community risk and organisational goals.
Oversee the strategic risk management framework ensuring risks are identified managed and embedded across the organisation.
Provide leadership for the development review and governance of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
Deliver a robust assurance framework in line with national standards including performance monitoring audit and inspection readiness (including HMICFRS).
Support the Services change and improvement programmes ensuring evidence-based decision making and measurable outcomes.
Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and Members influencing decision-making at the highest level.
Build effective partnerships internally and externally to enhance collaboration learning and innovation.
Lead develop and inspire teams to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.
Provide strategic (Level 4) command at emergency incidents and undertake flexi duty cover in line with the Area Manager rota.

We are looking for a credible and values-driven leader with a strong track record in strategic leadership and organisational governance.
You will bring:
Significant leadership experience at a senior level within a Fire & Rescue Service
Proven expertise in strategy development risk management governance or assurance
Strong understanding of inspection regimes public accountability and regulatory frameworks
Experience of leading organisational change and improvement programmes
Excellent analytical communication and influencing skills
The ability to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic environment
A commitment to equality inclusion and organisational values
