Brentwood Borough Council is looking for a committed and knowledgeableArboriculturalOfficerto help manage enhance and protect the boroughs diverse tree stock across parks open spaces woodlands housing assets and conservation sites.

As ourArboriculturalOfficer you will:

  • Carry out detailed tree inspections using VTI QTRA PTI and other recognised methodologies.
  • Manage and update the Councils digital Tree Management System including surveyingmappingand programming risk-based works.
  • Provide professional advice on tree management TPOs Conservation Area notifications and planning applications.
  • Produce reports assess risks and create work programmes for trees across parks open spaces carparksand housing sites.
  • Manage and monitor external contractors ensuring compliance with RAMS insurance and quality standards.
  • Support enforcement ofarboriculturalconditions high hedge legislation and root damage investigations.
  • Assist with woodland management and delivery of grant-funded environmental projects.
  • Engage with residents stakeholders and councillors attending site meetings and responding to enquiries.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in arboriculture including tree surveying TPO regulations and BS3998
  • Proven experience working with contractors and managing work programmes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and tree management software
  • Excellent communicationdiplomacyand customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Diagnostic skills in tree healthpestsand diseases

Essential qualifications include:

  • Lantra VTI (or equivalent)
  • RFS Diploma in Arboriculture (or equivalent)
  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Lantra PTI or willingness to work towards
  • QTRA or willingness to work towards
  • IOSH Managing Safely or willingness to work towards
