Summary:
The Interim Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial management and governance arrangements of York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. The postholder will lead on key technical accounting activities maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements. This role is responsible for balance sheet management treasury activities grant and income accounting regulatory reporting and the preparation of high-quality financial information to support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Lead the management and control of the balance sheet ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately reviewed regularly and maintained in an audit-ready condition.
Ensure the integrity and completeness of financial records through robust financial controls and reconciliation processes.
Oversee banking arrangements treasury activities and investment transactions in compliance with treasury management policies.
Ensure reserves are aligned with approved financial strategies and planning assumptions.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
Administer and maintain finance systems including Xero ensuring effective utilisation and data integrity.
Qualifications:
CCAB-qualified accountant (CIPFA ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent).
Essentials:
Significant experience working within a finance or accounting environment.
Proven experience of balance sheet management and reconciliation processes.
Experience preparing financial statements and applying technical accounting standards.
Demonstrable experience preparing VAT returns and statutory or regulatory submissions.
