Accommodation Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
Supporting the Accommodation Maintenance Team at The University of the West England (UWE) you will be responsible for the completion of both pre-planned and reactive remedial repairs and maintenance to the internal and external fabric of a wide variety of assets. This is a new position to help ensure we continue to deliver an efficient and quality service to our client.
- Play a key role in planning and completing a range of works associated with joinery tiling drainage minor roof repairs finishes plastering flooring etc to building fabric systems or any required minor building fabric repairs dependent on relevant experience.
- Provide exceptional maintenance services to our high profile client and go the extra mile to deliver to the highest quality standards in all areas of your performance.
- Use your own initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
- Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.
- Report and record procedures including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.
- Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
- Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.
- Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.
Qualifications :
- Demonstrable experience in Building Maintenance
- Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Good planning and organisational skills to keep on top of priorities
- Good record keeping skills and comfortable using a PDA system
- An adaptable team worker keen to get involved and support others
Desirable
- CSCS Card
- IT Skills in the use of PDAs
- Asbestos awareness training (UKATA)
