About the role and where you will be working

Join the newTamworth Mental Health Unit (THMU)as an Aboriginal Peer Worker and use your lived experience and cultural knowledge to make a real difference.

Youll build trusted relationships with Aboriginal consumers families and carers providingpeer support advocacy hope and practical guidancethroughout their recovery journey.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team youll help deliverculturally safe person-centred care support recovery goals and connect people with community and psychosocial services.

About you

Youre anAboriginal person with lived experience of mental health challengeswho is passionate about supporting others and strengthening mental health outcomes in your community.

You bring:

  1. Comprehensive understanding or experience in drug and alcohol practice including comprehensive assessment care planning intervention and evidence-based counselling models of care and ability to apply case management principles
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work as a senior clinician in a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating application of professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations.
