Job Summary

We are working with a well-structured private school in North London looking for a 1:1 Support Assistant who can handle challenge without escalation. This is not a passive support role. You will be working with pupils who need consistency structure and calm adults who do not react under pressure. The school has strong leadership and clear behaviour systems in place you will not be left to manage situations alone. What the role involves: - Supporting pupils with SEN / behavioural needs - Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff - Small group or targeted 1:1 support - Long-term placement with consistency What they are looking for: - Calm reliable and consistent personality - Experience in schools PRU SEMH or youth work - Ability to de-escalate behaviour not inflame it - Thick skin and professional mindset This role suits someone who can stay calm under pressure and handle behaviour without escalation.

Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH)Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
