Service Technician

Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for independently performing advanced servicing troubleshooting and quality verification of hydraulic and mechanical downhole tools in accordance with company standards. This role plays a key technical function within workshop operations ensuring tool integrity service quality and operational readiness. The technician exercises technical judgment supports junior team members and contributes to continuous improvement in safety reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Independently perform servicing repair and functional testing of hydraulic and mechanical downhole tools.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot tool failures identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate assembly and servicing.
- Conduct precision measurements and tolerance verification using calibrated instruments.
- Perform quality checks and final inspections prior to tool release for field deployment.
- Prepare and validate service documentation in JDE TAT and related systems with technical accuracy.
- Support failure analysis and provide technical feedback to Supervisor or Engineering team.
- Guide and provide technical support to junior technicians when required.
- Ensure compliance with workshop safety standards procedures and 5S practices.
- Coordinate with inventory personnel to ensure accurate tool tracking and stock updates.
- Oversee tool receiving inspections and verify condition against documentation.
- Ensure tools are prepared preserved and packed according to operational and shipment requirements.
- Contribute to workshop productivity targets and turnaround time improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve servicing efficiency and reduce rework.
- Support audits quality inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment by following 5S principles.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Technical certification (ITE / Diploma in Mechanical or related discipline).
- 35 years of relevant experience in downhole tool servicing or oil & gas equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and failure diagnostics.
- Prior experience in downhole tool service is an advantage
- Basic English communication skills (spoken and written)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good interpersonal skills positive attitude and a proactive work ethic
- Team player with strong integrity and commitment to safety
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with service logging and tool tracking
