Our client is an established upstream Oil & Gas Exploration & Production (E&P) operator in Thailand. The company currently operates the L53 onshore petroleum concession with producing assets located in Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri Provinces and is preparing for the development of a new petroleum concession project.
The organization is focused on exploration field development production optimization and long-term asset growth. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to integrated subsurface studies exploration activities and development planning within a technically challenging upstream environment.
The successful candidate will initially be engaged on a 23-year contract with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position subject to project progress and commercial production milestones.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geoscientist (Geophysicist / Geologist) to lead integrated geoscience studies supporting exploration appraisal field development and production optimization activities. The successful candidate will integrate geological geophysical petrophysical and reservoir data to identify exploration opportunities mature drilling prospects evaluate reservoir performance and support strategic asset development decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead interpretation and evaluation of 2D/3D seismic data including seismic attribute analysis and generation of time/depth structural maps.
Perform integrated geological and geophysical evaluations including structural interpretation sequence stratigraphy reservoir characterization sand mapping and hydrocarbon assessment.
Identify and mature exploration appraisal development and infill drilling opportunities through integrated subsurface studies.
Conduct well correlation petrophysical evaluation reservoir connectivity analysis and support reserves/resource estimation.
Integrate seismic geological petrophysical and production data to support reservoir management and field development planning.
Provide technical support during drilling operations including formation evaluation geological monitoring drilling hazard assessment and real-time operational recommendations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including drilling reservoir engineering production and operations teams to optimize asset performance.
Support seismic reprocessing activities production enhancement initiatives and business development evaluations.
Prepare technical reports geological assessments well evaluation reports and regulatory documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology Geophysics or a related Earth Science discipline.
Minimum 15 years of experience in petroleum exploration and development within the upstream oil & gas industry.
Previous experience with an upstream E&P operator is highly preferred.
Proven experience in exploration appraisal and/or new concession development projects.
Strong technical background in:
2D/3D seismic interpretation
Structural geology and fault interpretation
Sequence stratigraphy
Petrophysics and formation evaluation
Geological and geophysical data integration
Demonstrated ability to independently manage and lead the full exploration workflow from prospect evaluation through drilling opportunity maturation.
Experience in reservoir characterization reserves estimation asset development planning and integrated subsurface studies.
Proficiency in geoscience software such as Petrel Geolog GS-Software Log-Edit SeisWare or equivalent.
Strong analytical problem-solving communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with Thailand Basin petroleum systems and complex fault interpretation.
Experience supporting drilling operations well planning and reservoir management activities.
Experience working with government authorities joint venture partners and third-party reserve evaluation consultants.
Ability to provide technical leadership within a multidisciplinary team environment.
