Production Drilling Manager Thailand
Job Summary
This role is for a residential position based in SEA.
This is a senior operational leadership position suited to a drilling professional with strong experience in open-pit production drilling pre-split drilling fleet performance safety leadership and operational improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading safe efficient and productive drilling operations while maintaining high standards in drill accuracy wall control equipment utilisation workforce development and client engagement.
Reporting to senior operations leadership the Production Drilling Manager will lead all aspects of site drilling operations including production performance safety fleet management team leadership maintenance coordination operational reporting and continuous improvement.
This role is residential in SEA. Working Monday to Friday. The remuneration package will be negotiated in accordance with the candidates skills experience and suitability for the position.
- Lead and manage production and pre-split drilling operations.
- Ensure drilling activities are completed safely efficiently and in line with mine schedules and engineering requirements.
- Oversee pre-split drilling programs to achieve wall-control objectives.
- Monitor and improve drill accuracy collaring standards hole deviation control burden and spacing compliance and drilling quality.
- Work closely with mine planning drill and blast technical maintenance and site leadership teams.
- Drive improvements in penetration rates productive drilling hours equipment utilisation fleet availability and overall operational performance.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks affecting productivity safety or contract performance.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all drilling teams.
- Lead incident investigations risk assessments corrective actions and safe work practices.
- Partner with maintenance teams to maximise equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Lead coach and develop supervisors operators and operational crews.
- Build a culture of accountability professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong relationships with client representatives and key site stakeholders.
- Use operational data and KPI reporting to identify and implement performance improvements.
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 10 years experience in open-pit mining drilling operations.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a senior drilling leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing production drilling and pre-split drilling programs.
- Strong understanding of wall-control drilling drill accuracy hole quality and blast optimisation.
- Proven ability to deliver production targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Experience managing drilling fleets and operational workforces.
- Strong safety leadership and operational discipline.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of mining services contracts.
- Strong communication leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in gold copper or hard-rock mining operations.
- International expatriate or Southeast Asia mining experience.
- Mining engineering geology or related technical qualifications.
- Experience implementing productivity safety equipment performance and drilling quality improvement programs.
