Sr. Databases Specialist SA, Solutions Architecture

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Database Specialist Solutions Architect to join our team in Taiwan and help customers modernize their database estates on this role you will be the hands-on technical expert who works directly with customers to plan design and execute database migrations moving workloads from commercial databases like Oracle and SQL Server to AWS purpose-built databases including Amazon Aurora Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon RDS.
You will engage across the full migration lifecycle: from discovery and schema assessment through proof-of-concept validation and production cutover planning. Beyond migration you will also help customers modernize their database architectures adopting cloud-native patterns purpose-built databases and managed services to unlock greater agility and innovation. This is a deeply technical customer-facing role for someone who thrives on solving complex database challenges and enabling customers to achieve better performance scalability and cost efficiency on AWS.


Key job responsibilities
- Provide AWS customers with deep technical expertise and strategic guidance to allow them to effectively use AWS Database Services across their business both tactically and strategically.
- Collaborate with AWS specialist sales marketing and product teams to develop innovative solutions for customers most challenging business problems.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers executives helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation.
- Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on common use cases and industry best practices helping customers jump-start their AWS database migration journey.
- Design and architect complex database solutions based on relational or non-relational technologies.
- Champion industry best practices through technical thought leadership content including blogs white papers and reference architectures.
- Present at key industry events including AWS re:Invent AWS Summit and other conferences.
- Educate customers on AWS value proposition for data management workloads ensuring solutions are optimized for production environments.
- Provide feedback to AWS product teams on customer-specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty.
- Stay current with emerging trends in Database Analytics and Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage.


- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering a related field or equivalent experience
- 8 years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development cloud computing systems engineering infrastructure security networking data & analytics) experience
- 3 years of design implementation or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10 years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences including executive level stakeholders or clients
- Deep knowledge and experience with at least one of the following:
- Open-source relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL MySQL MariaDB)
- Commercial relational databases (e.g. Oracle SQL Server)
- Non-relational databases (e.g. MongoDB Cassandra DynamoDB ElastiCache Redis Couchbase Neptune Neo4j)
- Strong communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and verbal).

- 5 years of infrastructure architecture database architecture and networking experience
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- Experience in a technical role within a sales organization
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
- Advanced degree in computer science computer engineering or related field
- Database migration expertise: Hands-on experience migrating enterprise databases (Oracle SQL Server) to AWS managed services (Amazon RDS Aurora DynamoDB) using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
- Performance tuning & optimization: Deep experience in database performance tuning query optimization indexing strategies and capacity planning at scale.
- High availability & disaster recovery: Experience designing multi-AZ cross-region database architectures with automated failover and backup/recovery strategies.
- Data modeling: Strong skills in relational data modeling NoSQL data modeling patterns (e.g. single-table design for DynamoDB) and choosing the right database for the right workload.
- Generative AI fluency: Understanding of how databases integrate with GenAI workloads.
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform CloudFormation or CDK for database infrastructure automation.
- AWS Certifications: AWS Database Specialty AWS Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent certifications.
